About us

At the basis of everything I do is curiosity. I love to figure out how things work, what might have caused what we are experiencing, what motivates particular behaviours. This was what led me to my passionate interest in neurodevelopment, and how our bodies respond to the world, and made training with the INPP an obvious step for me.
I’ve had, and still have, a successful career as an academic in Computer Science; I’ve been fortunate to be able to engage in creative activity and production, in dance and in writing; and over the past decade or so, have trained and worked as a neurodevelopmental therapist. To me, these different strands all weave together, because they are all concrete, and they have in common the notion that we exist in the world, the world stimulates us, and we respond.
I have a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, from Edinburgh University, where my focus was on language and how we can model language understanding using computers.
The INPP approach has at its centre the fact that human beings have a neurological system that responds to stimuli. Initially, as embryos and then as babies, we learn through our central nervous system experiencing stimuli, and responding to these stimuli. Reflexes. These are at the heart of everything, the scaffolding on which we build the rest of our leaning and understanding and capabilities. The INPP approach that says that the smooth development of these neurological responses is key to how we manage in the world; that if these reflexes are underdeveloped somehow then we can find some or many aspects of normal life challenging; and that the way to shift this is from the bottom up, by integrating appropriate neurological response — encountering this was an a-ha moment for me, and I have been convinced ever since that this is the most powerful way to help children and adults to an easier and more resourced life. This moment led me to pursue training, and I’ve been immersed in this work ever since.
I am qualified in the INPP practitioner postgraduate training and a current licentiate; I am qualified in the Ronnie Gardiner Method Level 2 course; I’m a qualified Johansen IAS practitioner and I have trained in the INPP schools’ program delivery. I firmly believe that these therapies change lives, and I love supporting and seeing the changes that parents and children experience through their embracing of this work.
